“Ok men, get ready to bust in!”
commanded one of the Organization’s generals. The small troop readied itself by
drawing their weapons. Each one was specially designed for that individual
soldier, right down to the very last gram of steel. They were also specifically
designed to work the best against a specific element.
“On my count, men. 3, 2…”
He never got to one. The dark mist
suddenly disappeared and five blurs rushed out and started their attack.
The Organization’s men had barely
enough time to raise their weapons and defend themselves against the sudden
onslaught. Confusion erupted among them, which cost them precious time. Three
of the soldiers were already down by the time the troop started fighting back.
Jamie had started to take them
down using his third eye, as well as calling whatever servants had escaped the
Organization’s grasp to come to him. Syelina stole the breath out of every
soldier that neared her, and then flung them at the stonewalls where the soldiers
lay stunned for a while. Nai was in rapid combat with at least three soldiers,
her flames and wicked smile made the men shiver and cower as if she was a demon
straight from hell. Sebastian disappeared into darkness, only reappearing
behind unsuspecting soldiers where he knocked the weapons out of their hands
and then punched them unconscious. Annik cracked her whip, letting it coil around
the soldiers’ feet, yanking them towards the wall and holding them in place
using ice.
Everything went without a hitch.
Within minutes, all the soldiers were either unconscious or immobile. The
Puppets sheathed their weapons and Jamie covered his eye again.
As the group started to leave the
room, one of the men fixed to the wall spat under his breath. “Screw you, and
damn you all to the most torturous death imaginable. Kuro is going to kill us
because of your fools. Just kill us now.”
No sooner did those words leave
his mouth that Syelina was by his side, uncomfortably close. “Hm, now what did
I just hear come out of your mouth?” she asked, her voice soft yet frightening.
Her finger traced down the soldier’s cheek, deceivingly gentle. Annik and Nai
felt shivers crawl down their spines. The soldier was shaking, but he held his
head up high.
“I said, Screw you and damn you
all,” he repeated. The soldier tried hard to not show his fear, but it was all
too visible in his eyes.
Syelina chuckled. “I heard that
part, young one. The sentence right after that one. Repeat it for me please.”
Annik realized how young this
soldier was. He was maybe a couple of year older than her, even less. She felt
sorry for him. She wouldn’t want to get on that side of Syelina’s nature.
“I said to just kill us now, cause
Kuro’s going to come and kill us anyways.” He squirmed the best he could,
considering that most of his body was encased in ice.
“Ah, so you’re part of Kuro’s
army,” Syelina hissed. He grabbed the soldier’s face. “Where is he?”
“Outside. With the rest of his
army. He’s well guarded.” The soldier’s voice had started to crack with fear.
Annik decided it was time to step in.
“Thank you, I think that’s enough
information,” said Annik, and placed a restraining hand on Syelina’s shoulder.
The air mistress tensed underneath. She released the soldier’s face and pulled
Annik to her. “What are you doing, getting in my way?” Wrath made her eyes turn
flat and dead.
“I’m trying to save you from
throwing your life uselessly for revenge!” Annik hissed back. “I know you want
to get your hands on Kuro, but we’re trying to escape right now.”
Annik shot a, “Help!” look at
Jamie. In a couple of strides he was at Syelina’s side, dragging her along as
they moved towards the door. “Don’t slow us down now, Syelina. Revenge is a
dish best served cold, understand?” he said. “I want to get my hands on him
too. Much more than you think.”
It's been awhile! I know this is a bad part to end this chapter, but I had nothing else to write... I think I've been exhausting my brain doing both Puppetmaster and K and N Whenever-We-Can-Write Novels. I'll try posting more often!
