Annik 1

Adding to the sort of chapter with Annik...

<Annik!> hissed Lang. Annik started, and looked over at Lang, who was coiled at the window. It was just the beginning of dawn, when sunlight starts to creep over the horizon.
“What is it?” Annik asked. “Are we where they’re taking us?”
<I think so> Lang said, and slithered back to Annik. She coiled around her arm and gripped tightly. Most people would think that she was going to hurt them, but to Annik it was comforting to feel her friend’s weight. She huddled herself into the corner and waited for the door to open.
A few minutes later, the carriage stopped, and the driver and the man Drake opened the door.
“I hope you had a comfortable ride,” smirked the driver, and took a firm grip on one arm.
“Now, Nathaniel, don’t be so uncivil with our, ‘esteemed guest,’” said Drake and grabbed the other arm. Together, the two men dragged Annik to the ominous looking building down the pathway. It seemed quite normal at a quick glance, but if you studied it more, you realized it was a bit strange.
There were no windows, a huge door, and most of the building was hidden in the shadows. And there was something, just something, that wrong. She squirmed and tried to wrench herself from the men’s grips. The men just chuckled and knocked on the door.
“We’ve got something the master wants!” yells Drake, and the door opens. The two men escort Annik into the building and through the dark hallways.
As Annik walked through the hallways, she thought she felt eyes watching her. As she peered into the darkness even closer, she could see the figures of Puppets watching her. They were scared, and would not approach her or the two men. The stares were not menacing, but more like pity and fear. She could see some of them shake their heads at the sad fate she was going to share with them.
‘What have I got myself into?’ Annik asked herself, and she arrived to where her two kidnappers’ master was waiting.
“The master will check you over. Remember this, if you do anything, and I mean anything, offensive, you’ll soon find yourself without a life,” said Drake with a leer. “Have fun!” he said, and shoved Annik into the room.
